Preparation and Properties of Polyisobutylene Monosuccinimide


Polyisobutylene maleic anhydride (PIBSA) is prepared by reacting polyisobutylene (PIB) with a molecular weight of 1000-2000 with maleic anhydride, and then reacting with polyene polyamine in different proportions to prepare mono-, bis- and poly-succinimide and high molecular weight dispersants. Succinimide has good high and low temperature dispersing ability and strong solubilizing effect.

Monosuccinimide has good low temperature dispersion, mostly used in gasoline engine oil, bis and polysuccinimide, good thermal stability and high temperature dispersibility, mostly used in diesel engine oil, also used in gasoline engine oil, often a combination of the two use.
High molecular weight succinimide has good dispersibility at high and low temperature, and is mainly used in advanced gasoline engine oil above API SG level. Succinimide is used in combination with other additives in internal combustion engine oils.
In particular, it has an excellent synergistic effect when combined with detergents in appropriate proportions, and the two can form complex micelles. The solubilizing power is not rapidly depleted by these products, but better maintains its solubilizing and dispersing power.
