What are Turbine Oil Additives


Turbine oil is the lubricating oil used for steam turbines. Some turbine speed control systems also share turbine oil as the control system oil. For such units, turbine oil not only plays a role in lubricating, but also plays a role in speed regulation. The composition of turbine oil consists of two parts: base oil and additives, of which more than 95% are base oil. There are two main sources of base oils: one is mineral oil and the other is synthetic synthetic oil. Mineral oil is the refined oil after the petroleum has been processed. After adding some additives, it becomes turbine oil. The vast majority of turbine oils currently used are mineral turbine oils. Another base oil is chemically synthesized, called synthetic oil. After adding some additives, synthetic oil becomes synthetic turbine oil.
