1. Good oxidation stability
The service life of turbine oil is generally up to 5-15 years, and long-term continuous operation is required, so good oxidation stability is required to prevent it from being oxidized in the long-term contact of air, water and metal to form acid substances and precipitates. Corrosion, increase in lubricating oil viscosity, decrease in lubricating performance, etc. The operating conditions of the lubricating oil of gas turbines are more severe than those of steam turbines, so better anti-oxidative stability is required.
2. Appropriate viscosity and good viscosity-temperature characteristics
Different steam turbines have different requirements for lubricating oil viscosity. Steam turbines that supply lubricating oil with pressure circulation must have oil with a lower viscosity.
3. Good rust and corrosion resistance
Water entering the lubricating oil will corrode the metal, especially the ocean-going marine steam turbine unit. The lubricating oil cooler uses seawater as the cooling medium. If the cooler leaks, it will cause serious corrosion to the metal parts of the lubricating system.
4. Good demulsibility
During the operation of the steam turbine, steam and water will inevitably leak into the turbine oil from the shaft seal or other parts. If the anti-emulsification performance of the steam turbine oil is not good, it will not only form an emulsion and reduce the lubricating performance, but also accelerate the oxidation of the oil and reduce the emulsification of the oil.
