Ashless Dispersant


Polyisobutene succinimide is the most widely used dispersant, accounting for more than 80% of the total dispersant. According to its properties and uses, it can be divided into monoisobutene succinimide, dipolyisobutene succinimide, dipolyisobutene succinimide, polyisobutene succinimide and high relative molecular weight dispersant.
Among them, monoisobutene succinimide has a particularly good low temperature dispersion performance, and is mostly used in gasoline oil and low-grade diesel engine oil. Dipolyisobutene succinimide and polyisobutene succinimide have good thermal stability, so they are more used in turbocharged diesel engine oil. High molecular weight polyisobutene succinimide can be used for high grade internal combustion engine oil because of its high temperature purification and dispersability of sludge.
Monoisobutene succinimide, bispolyisobutene succinimide and polyisobutene succinimide dispersants are all linked to a maleic anhydride on a PIB. The high molecular weight polyisobutene succinimide not only increased the molecular quantity of PIB, but also connected about two maleic anhydrides to one PIB, which made it have better dispersion. The results showed that the dispersion and viscosity of polyisobutene succinimide increased with the increase of PIB molecular weight.
Polyisobutene succinimide dispersant is mainly used for internal combustion engine oil. It can not only make up for the deficiency of performance, but also have excellent concordant effect when it is mixed with high alkali value detergent. In modern internal combustion engine oil, the detergent with high alkali value is mixed with ash-free dispersive agent such as polyisobutene succinimide in proper proportion to achieve its best performance.
